What are Boyd County Arrest Records?

The Kentucky State Police Department Post in Boyd County (Post 14) maintains records of local activities in the county, including arrests. Interested persons can visit their website to view monthly activity reports, crime data, or make record requests.

Crime Statistics

The Kentucky State Police (KSP) gathers and publishes yearly reports of criminal and traffic data of all counties in the state. According to the 2018 report, Boyd County recorded a total of 6,856 arrests and 3,093 reported offenses. Out of the total recorded offenses, 1,486 offenses were cleared, meaning that Boyd County had a clearance rate of 48%. It also indicated a 9% increase from the 39% clearance rate recorded in 2017.

A breakdown of the arrest data shows that the county recorded 1,566 arrests, some of which included 14, 350, 28, and 2 arrests for homicides, assaults, sex offenses (forceful and non-forceful), and robbery respectively. Larceny/theft was the most reported crime with 897 reported cases, followed closely by drug offenses with 893 reports. The statistics also indicate there were 10, 402, 54, and 10 reported incidents of homicide, assault, sex offenses, and robbery respectively.

What are Boyd County Criminal Records?

Boyd County criminal records or rap sheets are documents listing the crimes that an individual has committed and/or been convicted of. A criminal record also provides a summary of an individual's criminal history and includes details like names, aliases, mugshots, indictments, arrests, and prior convictions. These records are generated by law enforcement agents and courts at a local and state level.

How Do I Get Boyd County Criminal Records?

Residents of Boyd County and non-residents can obtain official criminal records information from two major sources: through the Kentucky State Police or the Administrative Office of the Kentucky Courts.

The Kentucky State Police provides conviction records checks for employment, licensing, administration, and criminal justice purposes. Interested persons can request for these criminal records by downloading a background check form on the website and conducting a name-based search. KSP charges $20 per request and an additional $10 if a fingerprint-based criminal history check was also requested.

The Administrative Office of the Kentucky Court of Justice provides access to criminal records reports. Individuals can also order for criminal records through their online system, mail, or in-person requests. A service fee of $25 will be charged and accepted forms of payments include American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa credit cards and most debit cards.

How to Find Boyd County Sex Offender Information?

The Kentucky State Police is tasked with maintaining the statewide registry of sex offenders, in compliance with state laws. Interested persons can search the Sex Offender Registry online to obtain offender information such as name and location, or identify the location of sex offenders in the neighborhood.

How do I Visit an Inmate in Boyd County Jail?

The Boyd County Detention Center only provides video visitation to those who wish to see an inmate in the county jail. Interested persons can visit remotely by scheduling a GTL video visitation online or by visiting the kiosk at the front of the jail at;

Visitors can schedule visits from 08:00 to 23:00 every day but prisoners are only given 30 minutes of free visitation after which inmates will be charged $0.25 per minute. Requirements for video visits are computer, webcam, Adobe flash player, and high-speed internet connection.

Where and How to Find Boyd County Inmate Information

The Boyd County Detention Center maintains an online database that lists all current inmates in the facility. Therefore, individuals can obtain inmate information like full names, mugshot, book date, and probable release date from the website. For more information, persons may conduct an additional search by using the online offender search tool provided by the Kentucky Department of Correction.

To search for records, inquirers should visit the website and provide the inmate's full name but results can be streamlined by providing advanced details like age, race, location, and conviction information.

What are Boyd County Court Records?

Boyd County court records are records that are generated and maintained by the circuit and district courts in the county. These are documents and files of any format that contain information about court proceedings and administrative actions. Information contained in these documents includes transcripts of criminal and civil proceedings, dockets, sworn statements, and details included in case files.

The Circuit Court Clerks generates and manages the court records of Boyd County Circuit and District Courts. Although open to the public, sensitive and investigative parts of court records are exempted from public disclosure and will be redacted from the copies provided to requesters.

What are Boyd County Vital Records?

Boyd County vital records are documents that contain information about the life events of an individual that happened within the county. Therefore, Boyd County vital records are not limited to residents but include those who had life events like divorces, marriages, birth, etc. in the county.

There are two major repositories of vital records in Boyd County; the Vital Statistics Office of the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services, and the Boyd County Office of the County Clerk. However, not all vital records are open to the public. Custodians often have eligibility requirements and record dissemination procedures that must be satisfied before granting access to parts or all of a vital record.

Where and How to Get Boyd County Divorce Records?

The Boyd County Circuit Court is responsible for generating and maintaining records of divorces that were obtained in a Boyd County Court. As per state laws, the court clerk forwards these divorce records to the Kentucky Office of Vital Statistics who acts as a central repository for divorce records in the state and issues certificates for divorces that occurred from June 1958 till present. Records of divorce that occurred before June 1958, divorce decrees and other court files can be obtained from the Boyd County Circuit Court Clerks.

Divorce records are public records in Boyd County and do not have any eligibility requirements. To obtain divorce records from either custodian, requesters only need to provide details such as the name of the divorced couple, date of divorce, and location.

Where and How to Get Boyd County Marriage Records?

The Boyd County Clerk is tasked with generating and maintaining records of marriages that occur in the county. The clerk maintains the records of the divorce proceedings and also forwards information to the Office of Vital Statistics who issues certificates of marriages that occurred from June 1958 till present.

Interested persons can obtain informational and certified copies of marriage records from the Boyd County Circuit Court Clerks but marriage certificates can only be issued by the Office of Vital Statistics.

Where and How to Get Boyd County Birth Records?

The Office of Vital Statistics is responsible for managing records of births that occurred in Boyd County from 1911 to present. However, birth records are exempted from public disclosure. These records are strictly available to the adult subject, parents, legal guardians, legal representatives, and those with a court order.
